Michaela DePrince was orphaned in her home country of Sierra Leone which was in the midst of a brutal civil war. While in an orphanage, DePrince found a tattered cover of a ballet magazine. The image of the woman with the beautiful dress and shoes stuck with her. She was adopted and brought to the United States by the DePrince family. Remembering the picture of the ballerina from the magazine, Michaela began taking ballet lessons. This is the true story of how Michaela 's persistence, commitment to her dream and hard work helped her to become a success in the most competitive world of ballet.
