In 1918 the Spanish Flu became one of the most widespread pandemics in the last 100 years. In this fictionalized account, seventeen year old Cleo Berry volunteers for the Red Cross by driving around the city of Portland Oregon distributing information about the flu and checking on the wellbeing of city residents. Cleo comes face to face with children left without parents and seemingly healthy people dropping dead in the streets. Will Cleo be able to face the horrors of the pandemic without getting sick herself? |
